CeraCut® – Introduction of one of the world’s first ceramic grinding mechanisms
Until 1996, spice grinders typically used wither steel, with its limited range of applications, or plastic, which posed significant drawbacks in terms of durability and wear.
In a pioneering move, 1996 saw the first use of high-strength tyechincal ceramic as a materioal for spice grinding mechanisms, which was previously found only in industrial settings.
Introduction of the world's first stainless steel mills with acrylic
Until 1997, stainless steel grinders were only available in closed designs, meaning the contents had to be guessed or tested by trial and error.
The introduction of the world’s first stainless steel grinders with a viewing window changed that, offering a clear view of the contents and helping users avoid any unwelcome surprises while seasoning.
PEPMATIK STAINLESS STEEL – The birth of the electric stainless steel grinder
In 1997, the world’s first electric stainless steel grinder was launched. Just a year later, it became a hit on the popular VOX cooking show "Kochduell".
Retailers and consumers alike quickly turned it into one of the most successful innovations ever introduced in this category, leaving a lasting impact on the market.

Introduction of ceramic knives
Until 1998, ceramic was mostly known in the kitchen and at the table as a material for crockery, bowls and dishes. Its suitability for creating high-strength, durable products was largely limited to industrial use involving complex technical ceramics.
What was new in 1998 was the introduction of technical ceramic for everyday kitchen knives, bringing industrial-grade performance into the home kitchen for the first time.
